This framework was originally developed by Charlotte Danielson in 1996. The goal of the framework was to develop criteria on how to be an effective teacher inside and outside of the learning environment.

My Teaching Domains

Domain 1

Planning and Preparation

This domain outlines the design and organization of desired teacher instruction that is best to give based on the student population. The design has specific outcomes of instruction with varied modes of assessments for demonstration of student learning.

Domain 2

Classroom Environment

This domain analyzes the effectiveness of how the teacher creates and engages with the space/culture of the classroom. It assesses the creativity behind the design of a safe, respectful, and systematic learning environment.

Domain 3

Instruction

This domain assesses the diversity of teaching styles based on the different student needs in the classroom. Teachers are analyzed on their coherent communication with their learners and effective student engagement.

Domain 4

Professional Responsibilities

This domain hones in on the teacher's continued desire to grow and develop. An effective teacher is willing to reflect on their teaching, show professionalism, communicate with families, and attend different professional opportunities with their student's growth/success in mind.
