Domain 4: Professional Responsibilities

4a: Reflecting On Teaching

Being critical and self-reflective of my teaching leads to improvements in my teaching. Below I share my analysis of two 10-minute clips from my EdTPA mini-unit.

4d: Participating In The Professional Community

I am currently an active member of Dance NJ and the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO). In March 2021, I volunteered at the New Jersey High School Dance Festival for young, dance artists. Additionally, there is a Dance NJ connection call where myself and the 2021 Dance EdM cohort will be presenting on the inclusion of social justice in K-12 dance classrooms.

I pride myself on being involved in developing my professional network in the field of dance education.

I visited Beijing, China in October 2020 where I grew my cultural dance lens taking non-western and western classes alongside many pre-professional dance artists and dance educators. This is an important element for me as an educator to continue the journey of learning and investigating non-western cultures. I am ready to advocate, honor and cultivate an appreciation for the diversity within the dance world.

4e: Growing and Developing Professionally

The most important part of being an educator is continuing to learn and develop my pedagogical practice. Here is a certificate of my active participation in the FEA Arts Integration Summer Institute (virtual) and a professional development workshop on formative/summative assessment led at my student teaching site.  (Check out my Curriculum Vitae to see my involvement in the dance community)

4f: Showing Professionalism

I strive to be an educator who demonstrates professionalism by being of service and advocating for every student. Below is an example of a college recommendation letter written with integrity and honesty for one of my students.
